Customer Testimonials

"I've tried it all:  backpacks, messenger bags, panniers, but nothing has worked quite as well as a trailer.  And the BicycleR Evolution Heavy  Duty trailer is a real gem no matter what you want to take with you.   Its durable powdercoated cromoly construction, lockable waterproof  container, 305mm wheel size (which means you can use fast and bulletproof Schwalbe Marathon tires) and sturdy hitch ensure that no matter what I decide to carry, I don't have to worry about it.  I've managed to get 6 bags of full groceries plus some extra odds and ends in the thing with no trouble.  I've not yet come across a reasonable load I can't carry with this trailer.  It really makes the dream of being car free and easily attainable reality.

On September 14, 2004, my family and I sold our one and only car and liberated ourselves from participating in the slaugter of our earthly neighbors and their homes. Yes, folks, we divorced our car.

But this is not the point-- I'm merely trying to celebrate the fact that we are free and document the opportunities this has presented us. Consider our first night: we hooked up the trailer to my bike and Christina rode hers unbridled to the grocery store. We got some beer and bread and hung out on a bridge over the Willamette having dinner as a family, while the stars stared.

Or how a few days later, my friend John came to visit and we decided to go on a fixed gear ride. He brought his over to the house and I hooked up
the trailer (actually it's the new Heavy Duty Version of the Shopper that's not yet on the site as of the time of writing) to my fixed gear (which, yes, now has a brake) and loaded it up with some bottles that needed to be returned for deposit. He had nothing more than his cell phone. Needless to say, I managed to keep up with him-- at one point he looked down to see we were doing about 18mph. So then we got some beer and groceries and hucked it back home."

From my 26 years of extensive experience with many types of bike trailers, I find BicycleR Evolution® trailers deceptively simple, yet elegant. An excellent answer for the excuse of using an automobile for all of those little daily trips around town because 'I don't have room for carrying my stuff." I pull my trailer always (yes! always)when commuting and on errands around town. It is so easy to pull (no fuss, no muss), it doesn't even slow me down. The convenience and intuitiveness in use are so undeniable that I am no longer ever seduced by the appearance of needing the car. When I am carrying my computer or important package on my daily commute to work, I just put it in my trailer knowing it will be safe and dry. They are so durable and economical every on in my family has one. (We have four!) This means each person has a complete self-powered, non polluting transportation system. We even occasional bunji fairly large items on top. I know that the BicycleR Evolution trailer has made my life healthier, as my exercise/commute habit is never disrupted, because "only the car will do today". Kit trailer is working great. I moved a bunch of books and bookcases on it, obviating the use of a truck! Jym Dyer

Good to see you're still making these fine trailers! I've been using mine steadily for the last 2 1/2 years quite happily. Thanks for making life without car much easier. From hauling watermelons this summer, to possibly figuring out how to transport a christmas tree this winter - its been really fun! Scott McCammon - Bloomington, Indiana

The trailer is great. I especially like the quick disconnect on the mount... not only is it a simple design, but well thought out. Michael Perry - Eugene, Oregon

Neat design. Went together in about 5 minutes. I like the way the frame pieces interlock. Are you a mechanical engineer? Larry Mongin

I bought one several years ago. It has been an indispensable part of living car-free. It's a grait trailer. Many thanks! Also, a friend of mine bought one based on my testimonial. Trent

Well, my new BicycleR Evolution trailer arrived today and took about 15 minutes to set up (even without any directions). And I have to tell you, I'm in love with this thing already. Elegant simplicity at its finest. Now I truly feel as though getting rid of my car was the perfect decision for me. This thing rocks. I immediately went to the market and bought a tub full of dinner supplies for me and my housemates. Thanks for the super fine product. $200 seemed like a lot at first for a Rubbermaid tub and some wheels, but I'm not squawking a bit now that I've seen the design. The quick-release coupling makes hitching up and unhitching a snap. Now I just need to get some supercool stickers to adorn my new trailer. You guys rule. Charles Fletcher, Portland

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I loaded about 75 lbs. of groceries on my trailer and rode up a very big hill to my house. Your trailer pulls better than my "BOB" did, with much less pushing on the bike. Robert Levengood

...THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT! The trailer tracks perfectly. It is light, it is quiet, the hitch is easy to use, it's great. Jeff Brandt - Corvallis, OR

What an elegant design! I barely feel it behind me except when it's heavily loaded and I'm going uphill. (We regularly carry 5-gallon bottles of water in it.) Even stiff crosswinds don't seem to find it. We've done all our grocery shoopping with it since it arrived. It's made our choice to go car-free not only tenable, but pleasurable. We've also found it handy for non-bike-related errands. We've used it like a wheelbarrow around the house. It's traveled on the bus tipped up on one end, giving it less of a footprint than many strollers. We've even wheeled it into stores and used it as a shoppng cart. Nuallë Schallenberger & Sorcha Keepers

I've had the trailer on the back of my cross bike and it handles wonderfully. You may use me as a reference if you need to. I've been looking for something like this for a long time, as the axle in our tandem tends to break carrying us and all our own gear for traveling week after week. Jim, my partner, and the engineer on the crew likes the design very much. Hope you do well in sales. Susan Paulsen

The trailer arrived on Friday. I took it for a spin (18 Miles) on Saturday, and it performed beautifully. Only when I cranked hard up a hill did I notice it was there. All in all you did a fine job. If anyone asks me about how to get one, I will send them your way. By the way, I have it in at work today with me. I carried my precious cargo, my viola, and it did fine. It is still in tune. Nils Turner - Musician, Atlanta Georgia

The trailer arrived yesterday. It is together and already been tested. I like it. It is light, simple, yet ingenious, tracks well, is quiet, and generally pretty cool. Tonight is the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign's monthly social. The trailer will be spotlighted and will be put to work carrying a box of recently printed T-shirts. Without the trailer, a car might have been pressed into service to carry the box. My cat is pleased with the trailer too, at least its wheels, He kept rubbing his head against them. Strange, A cat toy that is a bike trailer. It is great that the box is also the shipping container. I will let you know what other people's comments are and how we use the trailer. Jim Chapman - Atlanta Bicycle Campaign Later Jim Writes: Everyone with the Atlanta Bicycle Campaign thinks the trailer is great! Now we would like to order a second, and two extra hitches.

What a beautifully designed trailer! Having never seen one in "person" before, I am impressed at how intelligently the frame goes together and how simple the total design is-all aluminum and steel construction, no gadgets or plastic/nylon fittings to fail. The waterproof plastic box will be perfect for touring. I can't wait! I plan on making a slightly larger slated wooden box for carrying bulkier items (i.e. five gallon buckets of flour) and/or messy stuff like compost or construction/gardening tools. I'll probably leave off the top and use some elastic netting of some kind. When I need to switch containers its just a matter of unscrewing three bolts-Brilliant! Anyway, thanks for the new trailer! Several folks already have asked me about the trailer and I have passed along your brochure. I plan on bringing it with me to the next Burlington Bike Council meeting to show it off. Hopefully the idea will spread. Thanks again!! Kai Forlie - Co-op Management Consultant
